Nothing. That is what my training log has written on it for Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Nothing…nada….zip. And I am okay with that. I had a great 10 mile run on Thursday night where I actually felt good and pushed a little along the way. I started out not too excited about the run, but the weather was nice so I just kept on rolling. I also knew there was a possibility that I may not get much training in this weekend.
It was a swim meet weekend. And even though I did not swim, I was still up at 5:30 to get Mason to the pool. I helped time all Saturday morning. And I was also nervous about Mason’s events. He only swam four events, but he was going for some more state times. I will alleviate the suspense and say that even though he dropped time in 3 out of 4 events, he did not make another state time. 0.49 seconds was the difference between a state time and not for his 100 fly. But all is not lost. We now get to go to another swim meet the day before the marathon for his one “last chance” at picking up additional state cuts. He has 4 weeks of hard training to get him ready for that.
I was supposed to run around 15 miles or so on Saturday. As I left the meet, a little discouraged about the outcome, the weather sealed the “no run” deal for me. Cold….overcast….windy. How many levels of suckiness do you have to descend to reach those conditions? Today’s weather was much improved after the swim meet, but my mind and body said, “NO”. So I gave in.
This week will be an interesting one. Christine and Lara will be leaving Thursday to head to Orlando for a high school dance competition. They will not get back until Monday night. So I will get Mason to school and pick him up as well as hanging out with him this weekend. I was thinking of taking him to a strip joint, but I am worried that they may card him. Do you think he will pass for 21? I may try it just to see the bouncer’s reaction at the door.
Anyway, I am supposed to run 20 miles next weekend for my last long run. It looks like it may be a 3 AM run on Saturday or Sunday. I will figure it out when the time comes. On a positive note, I convinced Christine to run the half marathon instead of the full. And since she ran 16 miles last weekend, I think she can handle it pretty easily!
