If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. That has been my approach to the races I have DNF’d (did not finish). In 2012 I DNF’d the Rocky Raccoon 100 miler and had the hoodie hanging in my office for a year before I could wear it. In 2013, I was finally able to put it on. I actually wore my race shirt today in the frigid cold.
I currently have a Leatherwood Ultra hoodie hanging in my closet awaiting the completion of my revenge tour.
I have planned my training to fix my stupidity…. I mean improper preparation based on my last attempt. I was ready to go back and tackle those mountains again. And then I saw this on their Facebook page:
Are you frickin’ serious? I completely understand the race directors need to have a life and I support him fully on that. But I have a perfectly awesome hoodie that I will never wear. Never. Plus I still have not drunk out of Christine’s finisher’s cup (She finished her race. She is a tough chick).
Now, don’t start telling me I should just wear the hoodie. It’s a personal thing. I don’t wear race shirts before I do the race and I never wear them if I don’t finish. Call me old school. I am 50 frickin’ years old now, so back off.
Anyway, so now I face a dilemma. The DNF has left a bad taste in my mouth. And without being able to avenge myself on the Leatherwood Ultra course, I find myself looking at something even more difficult. I have to find a course longer and tougher than Leatherwood. And I think I have.
2016 was a rough year for a lot of people. Especially in the Baton Rouge area. But I have to say it ended with one hell of a party!
Lara & Logan were married on December 30th!
Mason was able to stay in town for the wedding.
And then he got to spend New Years on the beach with Juliana in Sarasota on his winter training trip!
While we partied in the cold rain in Downtown Baton Rouge!
Happy New Years and be prepared for the 2017 Revenge Tour.
