Sitting on the Sidelines

I am not a good cheerleader.  No that’s not right.  I don’t mind wearing the short skirt and the little top, it’s the fact that I am forced on the sidelines right now that is killing me.  This weekend is full of races.  Last night was the Reindeer run.  This morning is the Baton Rouge Beach Marathon, the St. Jude Marathon and the Cajun Cayote Ultramarathon.  And I can’t do any of them.

I don’t mind sitting on the sidelines watching friends and family compete in their events.  I have really enjoyed all that Lara and Mason have done over the years and would not trade it for anything.  The difference is that during those times I could have easily gone out and done my own event at the same time.  Not having a choice sucks.

So today, before I go to New Orleans to watch Mason swim……before I start checking every website I can find to track all my friends racing today……before I sit on the couch to watch LSU play Georgia for the SEC Championship, I will go drag my ass out to the workshop and get on my bike trainer.  I have to do something.

By the way, I issued a fundraising matching challenge for the month of December for my 100 Miles of Hope event.  I will match up to $5,000.00 total for all donations made this month to Habitat for Hope.  Barely 3 days in and I already have 5 people who have jumped on the challenge.

Thank you to Ralph Caddell, Toni Gilboy, The May Clan (my sister!), Marion & Martha Denova (in-laws!) and Kristin Menson for getting the ball rolling.  Go to this website to join in the fun!
