I’ve reached my fill of this sissy stuff. I have been babying my leg so much that I might as well break out Lara’s Barbies and have a tea party! Enough is enough.
As I headed out for my walk/run tonight at Crawfish Aquatics, I started with my usual 5 minute walk. But for some reason, every step I took made me more and more aggravated. This walking stuff was getting old and I wanted to run!
When I hit 4 minutes I had made up my mind. This was going to be a real run. My leg felt good. It has been doing fine with my other runs. It’s time to see what happens. So at 5 minutes, I started to run.
(say the following quickly in a commercial voice)
My name is Jack Dup Fibula, and I do NOT approve of this message.
This message was paid for by the committee to rehab dumbass Timbeaux and his leg.
Fortunately for me, I always ignore those political ads. My leg stated its displeasure early on, but I eventually pounded it into submission. I skipped the other walk breaks until I was back to my 9 run/1 walk routine. And it was nice.
The only time I had any problems was when I would start back running after my 1 minute walk. All that tells me is to walk less and run more.
I’m training to run 100 miles not to put on some tights and prance around in some ballet. It’s going to hurt. So I might as well get used to it.
I saw a video done by one of the finishers of last year’s race when he was at the 80 mile mark with one loop left. He said something about hitting a low spot at 70 miles and he didn’t want to run anymore. But he also knew he wasn’t going to quit so it was all good and he kept going.
Bottom line: Just Keep Going.
