The miles are creeping up and starting to wear on me. And my body is starting to feel it. In the past few weeks I have made several runs of 16 miles and one 18 miler. This weekend I will probably hit 20 miles. And between the calves and the ankles, many days I am walking around like I should be in traction.
Unfortunately, several of the other team members are hurting as well. Christine hit 16 miles this past weekend and her right knee let her know it wasn’t happy. Marcelo is currently on hiatus with some back/hip issues so he can’t run at all.
With all the ailments, fatigue and gallons of Icy Hot, you would wonder if it is all worth it. So is it? Oh yeah! We get periodic emails from St. Jude with stories about some of the children being treated there. My pains will go away after a day or a week or a month. They don’t have that luxury. So we will just deal with our pains and work to help theirs.
We are only about 6 weeks away from the marathon, so please consider donating to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital. I am going to do this no matter how much I raise, but I am sure the families at St. Jude would appreciate it being a lot!
If you want to donate online, the link is above. If you want to donate by check, leave me a comment and I will tell you how.
Thanks for all the support!
